I’m not a bag girl. Really, I’m not. I just don’t get it. I can understand the joy of shoes, jewelry, scarves, belts (athough less so) but I’m just oblivious to the charm of a bag. I can’t think of anything worse than toting around a designer bag which costs hundreds or thousands of dollars. Really? Why? Hello! It’s just a bag - for carrying stuff! I can’t even blame it on my children. Pre-motherhood I worked in the corporate world, wore suits but I never had a good bag. When I first had children I just carted around an ugly backpack. I only ever have one at a time, replaced when I’m suitably embarrassed by how disheveled it looks. In fact, I’m probably happiest without a bag at all, yay the freedom of being bagless! Unfortunately I cannot ram enough stuff in pockets to make do without one and my current model is pretty threadbare, so I made a replacement. My first tote. Made from a linen curtain and a thrifted pillow case – with an “alium” design on the front.
Now I just need to add the following:
15 screwed up receipts.
Loose change.
Marbles.
2 pairs of underwear (Tommy’s, not mine).
Hair bands.
3 biros.
Plastic watch.
Hairy raisins.
A deck of cards.
A jar of Vaseline.
Driver's licence.
There. Feels like home already!
Wow! That's very impressive for a first try!
