Happy new year!
Thank goodness it's all over now and life can get back to normal. I've enjoyed the holidays, the drinking, the eating, the celebrating, the giving, the eating...but I definitely over indulged on the food front and am yearning for the comfort of my normal routine. I am the queen of routine, it makes me feel safe and happy and I think my children fair better for it too.
I'm not a resolution person really apart from the "lose 10lbs" which I make every year - except maybe this year it should be more like 20! But I do have a short list of projects I plan to do in an effort to expand my crafty horizons:
Learn to knit
My Granny taught me to knit when I was about 8 but I don't even remember how to cast on or off, so I'll have to start from scratch. Any suggestions for foolproof beginner projects would be greatly appreciated!
Make a log cabin quilt for my bed
I'm in love with this one that Amanda Jean made last year. I'd like to make a red version of this.
Try a felting project
I'd like to make my own felt - haven't the foggiest about where to start but love the look of the real 100% wool stuff.
Have a go at soft toy/doll making
Have you seen these? Truly amazing!
Make more clothes for the kiddiewinks
Not very adventurous perhaps, but baby steps for me!
I'm looking forward to getting back to my routine also. One goal we have in common is to learn to knit this year. I'm excited to learn. Happy New Year.

Hello- I re-learnt to knit last year (2007) and watched a fab video on utube-just typed 'casting on' into my search engine and it bought up a video of a girl showing you exactly what to do-slowly, and repeating it over and over- it was amazing how quickly I picked it up again after not having knitted for about 20 years- I am just coming to the end of a very long scarf! Good luck!

I somehow stumbled upon your blog and so glad that I did! After I read this post it seemed like I had written it for me! HA! I too want to learn to knit and my mom gave me a great kit for Christmas - I have pics of it on my blog - I just started my blog back in Dec - hope you stop by. PS - LOVE the iCluch - I need to make one of those...i'll add it to my list :)

I too love a routine, and I tend to do so much better. Also, I can totally relate to being over-sugared and needing to get back into a healthy eating routine. Plus, I want to learn knitting too! I want to make hats for my boys--even if I never make a sweater, home-knitted hats are so cool!

Easy knitting projects...I started with a pillow cover. It helped me a lot with my knitting tension. My second project was a pair of fingerless mittens (one mitten is just one rectangle!). Happy knitting!!!
