Finally, a challenge I set myself last year, I'm starting my first pair of socks. I had no idea. It's like knitting thread with toothpicks, it's going to take forever!
hee hee... I can relate! I had to frog my first attempt at socks... but I will return!

But they'll be worth it! What wonderful coloured yarn.
I can't knit with metal DPNs - everything slides off. But the bamboo ones look even more like toothpicks - I caught Johnny trying to spear pineapple with one of my needles once.

I knitted a pair of socks in that yarn! They're my favourite... and don't worry, they'll be finished before you know it, and then you'll want to start another pair.
They're highly addictive.

Once you are addicted they will grow much quicker as you wont do any housework/shopping/cooking!
Love the wool you've chosen.

Toothpicks maybe - but the sense of achievement at the end is wonderful! If you're like me, I kept looking at my feet thinking "I did that"!

At last - someone has said it.
I can see that it's a challenge and I can see that you do get to end up with a beautiful pair of unique and comfy socks, but... I just can not see me spending the 15 years that it would take me to knit that wee yarn on those wee needles on something that is hidden by my raggedy old boots...
Good luck.

Such pretty yarn! You'll soon get into a rhythm and they'll grow a bit more quickly. The best bit about socks - no seaming!
