48 mason jars (36 of which were given to me by my son's daycare owner) washed and dried.
4 bushels of tomatoes bought at the local market, washed and drying on newspaper (the picture above is about just over a bushel - in case you're wondering how many tomatoes that is).
12 hours of canning planned this weekend with a friend.
She's done it before. I'm new at this kind of thing and foolishly excited. Wish me luck!
Decorative or pickling??
Thank you for the link - I checked it out and your right I absolutely fell in love.

Love the glass jars! I've done some large batches of roasted tomato sauce in the past from tomatoes bought cheap at the market, so I know there's a lot of work involved! Or at least it's quite time consuming - so good luck!

Good luck! Hope you have a food mill to make this job easier. Love that you're doing it with a friend -- big jobs are always more fun with a friend.

That photo is totally stunning. I wish you much luck. Don't you think it will feel homey and cozy during the winter seeing all the colorful jars lined up on the pantry shelves?
