So far our weekend has been a bit of wash out weather wise unfortunately. I'd hoped to take lots of beautiful leafy fall pictures, but alas it was not to be. However, time inside meant a few more completed projects on the sewing machine - including a tutorial which I'll post in the next few days. I'm far too lazy to do these on a regular basis, but given that I use a lot of other tutorials, I feel like it's my turn to offer a little something... Here's a sneak preview - waiting for better weather so I can take some good pictures. See that little button? It's my most prized thrifted button - it took a lot of strength to actually use it!
Speaking of buttons, here's some more of my collection that are still attached to their original packaging. I found a huge stash a while back in my favourite thrift store and it looks like many of these are from the local area. The needle trade was (and still is to a lesser extent) big business in Montreal in the sixties and seventies.
And then a simple little project, this linen and doily tote. Made in just an hour, I never really tire of this kind of sewing project...
I made a Roman outfit out of a sheet for a themed day at school tomorrow, dug a load of spuds and then had an afternoon at the spa with an ex work colleague who is getting married next weekend - I feel pretty relaxed given the huge pile of ironing that's waiting!

My weekend went pretty well. We went pear and apple picking and I finished more of my owl embroidery. I love that doily tote. I have been on the lookout for doilies while thrifting so I can make myself one.

I LOVE buttons! I remember spending hours and hours pouring over my mom's and my grandmother's buttons. Several years ago, my husbands grandmother died. No one in the family wanted her button box. I was elated when they said that I could have them. What a treasure. I couldn't believe that they could part with them so easily. They are a treasure to me. My girls now spend hours sorting through my buttons and I am delighted to take them to visit my mom and they want to play in her button box!

I did something totally out of character this weekend - cooked a proper roast Sunday dinner AND a pudding! The children thought it was Christmas!!
I love your tote bag. I've amassed a few doilies for repurposing and think they look fab used like that :)

Just got back from the sea on Saturday so my Sunday was filled with 12 hours of laundry. I adore that sweet bag of yours and I am an addict when it comes to buttons!
