I'm not talking about the elections in the UK he he! It's this summer's beach/pool bag. As much as I love the gorgeous colours in the pillowcase fabric, I wanted it to be a bit more sedate so I used it for the lining paired with denim. Now it's done, I think it's a bit too middle-of-road conservative and I almost prefer the reversible version.
The bag is adapted from this pattern. I made it a touch bigger this time (it's mahoosive) so I could cram even more towels, swimsuits, snacks, books and other paraphernalia in there. I also added stiff interfacing which was a mistake with the denim, it was iron on stuff which I don't normally use but I'm a lazy sewist and will not be unpicking it - perhaps a quick wash will soften it. Any thoughts?
Always a lesson to be learned every time.
i would love a beach bag like that !

I always find myself wanting to use the bright and happy designs, then shying away from them as 'they're not practical'. I blame my kids - before they came along, I did not look at everything for its stain-resisting properties...

I think it's very pretty, but I think I'm becoming more sedate in my old age ;-)
I wonder whether the tumble drier could do a number on the interfacing? Got to be worth a try, and slightly faded denim might be rather lovely too.

You can change it round depending on your mood, though no doubt once it's full of stuff you'll never get round to reversing it!
I like denim, it's timeless and just gets better as it ages.

I think the floral side is wonderful but it is probably more absorbent for beachy towels. The denim side is classic so both have their definite up sides.
