Nearly a year after I finished his quilt and promised him a pillowcase, I finally finished it this morning. It's been languishing in the "nearly finished pile" since last summer. Somewhat ironically, it marks our almost 4th anniversary of living in Montreal (we arrived on 06.06.06 from the UK). Tommy was just 19 months old when he arrived but still has the remains of a British accent, and is very aware of his Englishness. He fully embraces his roots, and proudly exclaims to anyone who cares to know, that he is one half English, one half Greek and one half Canadian.
That's a whole lot of boy!
His puppy, "Fluffy", is wearing the Montreal Canadiens jersey -they're playing in the Stanley Cup playoffs (um that's hockey if you're not a fan) at the moment - go Habs go!
I love it. I put the pattern together for a union flag ages ago, but still haven't cut it out. I'm all patriotic since moving here - mainly to bug my husband. I have made sure that both kids have an England shirt for the England vs. USA football match, though. They might be half American, but I'm going to use my influence to make sure that they are supporting the right side. It's pay back for them growing up with American accents...

Oh I love that pillowcase, very cute! I'm thinking of making things with the Union Jack on for the house, so much more inspiring than the French flag!

Ah, that is very cute indeed!

I also have a son who claims to be made up of 3 halves - made all the more funny by the fact that he's such a skinny lad.

Love your post! Your Union jack pillow is brilliant!
Oh how I miss watching Stanley Cup play-offs! I remember when the Montreal Canadiens won in I think it was 1986 and being in class at school in downtown Montreal and hearing the cheers from the celebratory parties going on...needless to say I don't think we got any work done. :o)

What a great pillow case (hi, just found my way over from UK lass in the US). I'm sure he'll just love sleeping on that!

Love this, I mean LOVE it.
I'm good old Southern US with Brit heritage so that's a hot mess of bloodlines, isn't it? I am sure Tommy will appreciate that more and more as time goes on...
