"Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things" - Antonio Smith.
Feeling in a reflective mood here as the pool closes for summer this weekend and school starts on Monday. As I get older I realise more and more that its the simple things that make me happy and keep me grounded when life gets overwhelming. It's for that reason that I have grown to love my macro lens so much, it's a chance to slow down and step back from the busyness of day to day living and remember that its the small, real details of life that count.
Have a happy weekend!
You're so right. When we lived in Japan, one of the things I teally admired was how the Japanese could isolate one thing of beauty and truly enjoy it, even if the surroundings were not perfect. Macro is the perfect tool to remind ourselves how to do just that.
Good luck for the back to school frenzy.

My kids will be going back to school this week, too, and while we've had a really fun summer, I'm looking forward to sitting still in the peace and quiet during the hours that they're away. (I'm planning to divert my eyes from the fridge that needs washing and the million other chores for a few days, at least!)
Beautiful, beautiful photos, btw!!

Every shot is magnificent and beautiful. It's amazing to see the world as it exists through a macro lens.

Exactly how I feel right now.
I've been after a macro lens too, and you're right... the little things are the ones that bring constant joy... like a slow and steady fire (name that song?) keeps you warmer for longer than a spectacular but quick blazing one...
happy weekend to you too!

Beautiful photo's! I'm enjoying the quiet before the storm with only 18 weeks to go before the baby arrives. It didn't really dawn on me first time round how special this time is so I'm not wishing it away this time! Especially since my little boy will now happily sleep in till 9am at the weekend!

Lucky you! I have to wake my children up every morning for school yet at the weekend they're up at the crack of dawn...such a cruel trick!!

That's v unfair indeed! I must admit I try to keep the 9am lie in's a secret from my NCT group for fear of being black balled!

I am feeling contemplative too as my eldest goes to school for the first time on Monday. Both girls are playing pretend picnics just now - I can hear them talking quietly to eachother and to their toys. This will not be happening in the daytime quite so much any more. Your words have crystallised my thoughts, but it's a little emotional!

Oh Emma, hope it goes well. It is an enormous transition and I found it such a bittersweet thing. We soon found a new rhythm but it is indeed a big change!
