Yesterday was my first day back at work since just before Christmas. As a reward for getting through my Monday blues I promised myself a quick post work trip to the thrift store. I picked up a milk glass vase (to add to my growing collection) straight away and then I circled and circled for a while just knowing that there was some little treasure waiting to be found. That's often the way I find when it comes to hunting down something special.
I had all but given up and was heading to the checkout when I saw these little coasters on the bottom of a shelf full of knick knacks.
Glass coasters covered with doilies, calling out my name, for a song. A good start to the week I'd say.
then we must be twin sisters because i'm a doily queen, too :)
i like milk glass vases, too

I love milk glass and such pretty pastels - though very scarce in the UK....or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places hmmmmmmm.

Hi Nina, they're acutally all white - just poor lighting when I took the photos!

PS glad you're feeling better!

I don't think I've ever seen milk glasses in the UK either ... you most definately are a doily addict x

Speaking of doilies, are you familiar with seedsandstitches.blogspot.com? Hannah likes doilies too, and when I saw her especially pretty Christmas gifts I thought of you!

they are so lovely & white...the doilies, I mean! the ones I find are very dark ivory. Pretty in their own way, I guess, but I love your find!
Milk glass reminds me of my mom--I have a little covered candy dish I use to hold stray sewing notions (pins and things) before they get put in their proper place.
thanks for sharing your finds!

Ack--lucky!!! The milk glass vases are to die for. When we bought our house in Texas, the woman who sold it to us had the coolest curtains in the dining room that were made from her collection of doilies all stitched together to make a fabric of sorts. They were so darn beautiful... I wish she would have left them there but no such luck.

Yet another person with thrifty finds - while down this way they have closed down my nearest thrift store to make way for a supermarket. Presumably because already having 3 supermarkets within a mile of my house was too few by their standards... I'll just have to thrift vicariously through my internet friends.
