a pretty blue sheet (no surprises) - $2.
sparkly shoes for my daughter (this is the first time I’ve bought shoes from a thrift store, but these look like they have barely been worn) - $6.
Not pictured:
sweat pants for my son (immaculate condition) -$4.
grey tunic for me (GAP) - $5.
The store I frequent is not the cheapest. It’s my local Value Village (or the much more chic sounding Village de Valeur as it’s known in French) which, apart from a small percentage of their profits donated to local charities, is basically a for profit business. People drop off their unwanted goods and VV simply sort it and sell it. It’s a pretty huge place and it’s easy to lose a few hours in there but it’s all very organized (which works well for me as I’m not really good at rifling through piles) and the clothes are arranged by type, size and then colour. It always makes me smile that the racks look like rainbows.
And I bet it's nothing like Oxfam ;-)
I'm heading off to the charity shops today - it's funny how the state of the stuff inside varies according to the town you're in!

Everything sounds so very classy when spoken with a twist of French!

I do like the sound of 'Village de Valeur' - very posh....for charity (or) preloved as I like to think.
Love those shoes,
Nina xxx

Good point. The way it works here means that the store has to have considerable square footage to make a profit, so there's room for much more choice too!

Wow, my eldest would adore those shoes - what a find. I adore the sheet, so we're square. Those sound like good shops to visit.

I'm pretty hopeless at ferreting out good things on the clothes front (but good at books and home-wear!)

I try not to buy any more sheets and pillowcases these days as already have far too many. But I couldn't resist this one!

Just too much effort isn't it? My mum is great at finding bargains in the sale racks, but it's just too much like hard work for me ;)

That sheet is a wonderful pattern, it would have been simply wrong to have left it behind!
You are the name out of the hat over on my blog!x

Thrift stores are dropping like flies in these here parts. I'm not sure why, when there seems to be an army of professional thrifters that frequent them. Pickings are slim, mind.

great find! i've never found shoes at a thrift store either, but if i did and they looked that good i'd snag 'em up.
we have value village here as well (canada prairies) but i always find them so pricey here.
