Not much sign of any autumnal weather here yet (I'm in no rush) but we marked the beginning of fall with an apple picking trip today. 32lbs of apples (a mix of Courtland, McIntosh and Spartan) ready for some sauce making. I'm also canning tomatoes again this week - I'm looking forward to filling a shelf or two with some homemade goodness - I take my role of domestic goddess very seriously these days!
I never would have guessed that pigs could look so sweet! Makes me want to name one of them Wilbur.
With that many apples, I hope you have an apple peeler!

Such lovelies. I'm in no hurry, but I do love this time of the year.

32lb of apples? Blimey. The only time I've seen that many was one year when we went to a cider making party - lots of fun but I declined to taste the unfermented juice having seen the state of the equipment the apples were pulped and juiced in ...

I love it too, but am enjoying the Indian summer we're having!

It is rather a lot! I'm having a canning morning with some friends next week and I'm trying to work out how much we'll be able to make given that I only have 4 rings on my oven! I might have to fire up the BBQ too!

The piggies were really cute! I don't have a peeler but I have a great corer/slicer gadget and lots of friends willing to peel!

You'll be peeling in your sleep after preparing so many apples! I made an apple cake today with some windfalls from the garden, a lovely taste of autumn.
