We go to bed. Mummy is drinking a big glass of wine. She looks at her sewing room floor. She should really sweep up the mess but can’t bring herself to do it.
Oh and of course, I missed the part about Mummy shouting a lot about all the mess.
If you’d like to have crumbs all over your kitchen floor, then you can find the granola recipe here. We used considerably less sugar (1/4 cup) and substituted the raisins and walnuts with apricots and almonds. Yum.
My little man is under the weather with a stinky cold. We’ve been snuggling up on the sofa watching CBeebies together while Ruby’s at school. My children love CBeebies, although they left England over a year ago, they still watch it (thanks to Grandad’s DVD care packages). I’m not sure there’s an equivalent in Canada that’s as educational. The whole children and TV/Computers topic is one that I find fascinating when talking to other parents. My children watch about 30 minutes at the end of the day (generally when I’m cooking dinner) but I feel guilty about it! I don’t know why I give myself such a hard time about it, but I do. I’m amazed how people do without it at all – I’d like to go cold turkey, but I’m chicken! CBeebies seems like a good compromise to me, almost guilt free TV. No commercials, just great educational programming – with a fantastic website to boot.
Ruby and Tommy have two current favourites: Nina and the Neurons – science based stuff that they love…"Mummy, did you know that I have more taste buds than you?” (apparently you lose them as you get older) and Big Cook Little Cook. Granted, the songs are really annoying, but the generally healthy cooking ideas are great “We want tiger sushi Mum”. “Can we have star bean burgers?” ask my adventurous little tasters. So today we made the longed-for star bean burgers (they lost their shape a little) with chunky home made chips and they were Y U M M Y! See, TV isn't all bad.
You can find the recipe here.
